Or in my case Mozilla Thunderbird isn't???

Can someone give me a step by step guide on how to set up my email account with Thunderbird.

In particular I haven't got a clue what my incoming server is or for that matter the outgoing server.

Can anyone tell me what to do?

You need to follow a setup guide like this one.
This setup (Minnesota) is different from yours in one respect - yours will be a POP account and not an IMAP one.

Your incoming server is normally: mailin.yourISP.something
Your outgoing server is normally: mailout.yourISP.something

Your ISP should tell you what these really are.

A lot of setttings can be imported from your old account normally - but that was AOSmell as I remember?? Which isn't very helpful.....

The main idea, however, is to let the account wizard do the work for you - but you really must know what your in and out server settings are to make progress.
You can always give me a ring and I'll talk you through some of it. Very Happy

I've sent an email to my server provider, hopefully I will get an answer with the information that I require. The wizard is actually easy enough, if you have the correct information to put in, which I don't appear to have?

I forgot to mention that I got a reply from my internet provider. I now know why I couldn't get it to work, there was certain information that I required for them to let me know. Suffice to say they sent me an idiots guide and I am now up and working.

Thanks to everyone who gave me some help.
