|
|
A lot of you know, or know of, Billy Twigger, the Isle of Bute cache-setter extraordinaire.
I have just learned that Ewan fell from a cliff on Bute yesterday whilst putting a new cache out. He was rescued by helicopter, but has broken his neck and suffered brain damage. The prognosis is not good.
His wife wants the Geocaching community to know the news, as caching was such a large part of his life.
I'm completely devastated, as I'm sure everyone else will be. _________________ Utterly smitten by a Captain

Have seen his name often so appreciate what an asset to Geocaching he is.
Our thoughts and prayers to him and his family at this awful time

We've seen BT caches listed all over - in fact our nearest cache was placed by him.
We've never met BT, but are totally shocked and devasted to hear the news.
You're in our thoughts Billy..... |

Terrible news. Never met him but spent a week on Bute enjoying his caches. Fingers crossed.

I'm stunned at hearing this news and don't really know what to say.
My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. |

I also echo the sentiments above, and this news causes me great personal distress.
Earlier this year, I enjoyed a brilliant day's caching in Scotland with Ewan, and we got on like a house on fire.
I can only hope that his condition improves, to any degree, and that some kind of recovery may be possible. There's little else that can usefully be said, as of now.

My most recent cache was on Monday at the Devil's Staircase, my first one of BT's in Scotland and a joy to do.
I wish him well. |

I am devastated at this news. BT has got to be one of the nicest people that you could ever hope to meet. I really don't know what to say. Obviously my thoughts are with him and his family. _________________ Let me know if I say anything that offends you

Totally gutted.... Don't know what else to say.
Looking on the bright side, I have a mate that fell from some scaffolding. He broke his back and also suffered head injuries. It took a long time but he recovered enough to be able to lead an almost normal, active life.
Lets hope that Ewan's injuries are not irreparable and that he makes a full and speedy recovery. My thoughts and very best wishes go out to him and his family. |

Ewan is in intensive care. He has not regained consciousness, but has responded to his name. So that's a good sign. Keeping all of my fingers and toes crossed. _________________ Utterly smitten by a Captain

I was with FoF when the news about BT came through. I'm still struggling to know how to react. I hope the outcome is what BT and his loved ones want and need. Whatever it is. _________________ In the service of a Queen |
