Version 1.1.1.20132 Update release today! |
Where from? I've tried Navstation, Pocketgear & Handango. The latest version I've fond is 1.1.0.15519 |
From 'the man'. After "yeah but no but" emails and "I want it to do..." requests I got a personal update on Sunday evening after the dismal performance.
I'm happy with what it does now, so far it's reliable too! _________________ Anyone for a Hot Cross bun and a Creme Egg? |

The aforementioned GeoScout updates are now on the download site - registered users got emails today.
Just an aside - it contains a handy instant position converter for Lat/Lon; OSGB; UTM; MGRS.
Put in any value and when clicked the others magically appear.
Who uses MGRS? _________________ Anyone for a Hot Cross bun and a Creme Egg? |

More updates in GeoSout!
The latest version (for me!) includes the following:
* Distance to the cache will use the current GPS position if this is
available
* You can optionally view all nearby caches on the map via a new
"tap'n'hold" menu option
* The GPS track has been made thicker so that it shows up better.
The latter was very thin and thread-like but better than the crumb-trail on the Garmins.
So... Schiehallion again tomorrow with more untried technology!
Eugene; the map and compass...just in case! _________________ Anyone for a Hot Cross bun and a Creme Egg? |

It worked OK for 7hrs + today! Still a little teething trouble in that it should be able to show nearest caches from wherever you are when the GPS is in use and defaulting to distance from 'home' co-ords when the GPS is off. However 'The Man' is aware and I'll keep y'all posted...
Now - I found a YK CD in a cache today. Dare I put it in a CD player? _________________ Anyone for a Hot Cross bun and a Creme Egg? |

At the risk of hi-jacking my own thread, yes, we did whilst caching today and now can't get the darn 1st and last tracks out our head.

Anyway... Geoscout doing exactly what is required. 'Refreshing' the cache list puts them all in directional order from where-you-are; any caches that are on the map currently displayed also appear in blue.
Well worth the small amount of money asked. _________________ Anyone for a Hot Cross bun and a Creme Egg? |

Sounds like I'll have to look at this software again. Especially since I'll be putting my Garmin in for repair soon (the usual rubber-seal-coming-off problem).
