I spotted a reference in 'GPS for Dummies' book re a free piece of software from Trimble (www.trimble.com) which showed you the satellite positions for any time and place. On going to Trimble it seems that they now charge for their software. Is there any other software out there for the impecunious GPS user? Wink

Wasn't there a Star Trek (no, not eTrex) episode - "The trouble with Trimbles"? Confused

Not sure if you're kidding or not Ian but the pedant in my brain is making me type the word tribbles.

It's still free. ( Smile )

You can download it from HERE

Don't forget to get the ephemeris file from the same link page.

WlW - Thanks for the URL - I seem to have hit the commercial wing of Trimble and as a consequence kept getting asked for a monthly payment! I've downloaded the software and stand in awe at the graphs showing satellite positions etc. All GPS users should have this. Razz

I think it was Deep Space Nine that had Trials and Tribbleations. The crew went back in time and ended up in the Tribble episode with Kirk.
