Alas my Garmin 38 was not as waterproof as expected and on a snowy day water got in and the screen now has lots of streaks and missing pixels.

The unit itself seems to work but it is unreadable. I am reluctant to throw it in the bin and wonder if it is possible to repair/replace the screen. I don't really want to throw lots of money at it if I could buy a new model for less than £100. If I am going to spend money on something new I am looking at more sophisticated models.

Does anyone dabble in electronics and like to have a try at sorting it out?
