|

Back in November I posted this comment on the UK Geocoin group thread. (worthwhile reading the whole thread!)
It turns out I may have been right, as they have forgot about Scotland & Ireland whilst making new coins, see this thread.
Dissapointed to say the least. _________________ Let me know if I say anything that offends you

Seems like you were banging your head against the wall HH.
Just one question though, WHO was considering a Scottish coin ? |

I don't pay that much attentiion to the whole coin thing anymore - it's just too confusing.
Which problem is this, now?
It it the one about the politically insensitive coin design? Or is it the one about who controls which coins? Or is it where someone is making too much money out of it, and someone else isn't?
Perhaps this is a completely new coin kerfuffle. I don't know...
... it's a toss-up.

I have had it confirmed that Slytherin Alex, who runs GCcoins (gave us the Euro and UK coins) has already sent the Scottish coin to mint. Although I don't know the design I have been told that it has been well thought out and should be appreciated.
Perhaps it wasn't mentioned on those forums to prevent insulting the English (My apologies to the English members of this forum. Ducks and hides).
As for the Irish one I believe that it is being done by GCcoins as well. _________________ Let me know if I say anything that offends you

Can we presume that the 'Scottish' coin design contains Shetland? The Br.. er, UK.. er.. - one with the 'Union Flag' seems to please and upset everyone in equal measures with the whole of the 'British Isles' (apart from Shetland etc.) and Eire etc etc.
Can someone help put the lid back on the worms now? _________________ Anyone for a Hot Cross bun and a Creme Egg? |

The original "design" for the UK geocoin featured a map-and-a-flag for a very good reason...
... that's what was on the USA one.
At the time, I'd suggested that they could come up with some original and creative concept of their own, with a bit of thought.
This, of course, was a stupid idea.

I have it on good authority that the Scotland coin does NOT have a map on it. Everything on it is related to Scotland, and should not cause offense to anyone. Hopefully?
I would like to point out at this time, that I have nothing to do with any of the Geocoins. _________________ Let me know if I say anything that offends you

I would like to think the the Scottish coin give us our own identity and lauds Scottishness, if there is such a thing! |

Does anyone actually know who was involved in the decision about the design for the Scottish coin then? |

Yeah, but someone must have chosen the actual design to go on them - surely it would have been polite to ask one of the Scottish geocachers for input? |

Sorry AB, but I can't really comment on that, something I am afraid that you would have to take up with SlytherinAlex. _________________ Let me know if I say anything that offends you
