The commonly used GSAK stats generator gives you your cache centroid, and now with Streetview you can view most of them.
Ours is currently in this nice field - where's yours? _________________ Roads? Where We're Going, We Don't Need Roads! |

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Centroid@56.5853203274778,-6.21509485777764&z=8
Up a hill in Mull (Once asked for a phone number in Motherwell on back shift one night long ago, the operator got back to me and said "they don't have a number like that in Mull." Guess I should enunciate my words a little better at times)
Anyway, noticed that the Centroid is near Calgary, always thought that was in Canada. _________________ "It's not whether you get knocked down.

I use GSAK and PQ (well the basic functions) - but was unaware you could view cache central? I guess mine will be fairly close to home - but have picked up a few on trips to Yorkshire / Birmingham / London. Would be interested where mine is. How do you access it?? |

Get the "findstatgen3" macro from the GSAK website. It's one of the stats that it calculates for you. _________________ Roads? Where We're Going, We Don't Need Roads! |

Had a look at this feature for the first time. Not quite sure how the centroid is calculated to take account of more distant caches. Looks to me as if the distances are measured along great circle lines. My centroid lies somewhere off SE Iceland - not too far from a certain volcano.... _________________ One day's exposure to mountains is better than a bookful of descriptions. (John Muir) |
