I had a particularly blond moment and stuck my walking boots on the radiator to dry out, now of course they've shrunk and are all stiff and uncomfortable. I've tried soaking them again and allowing them to dry slowly but it didn't help. Does anyone have any suggestions or am I going to have to write to santa? They're the gortex kind.

Plead insanity(It's a field I know well), write to Santa and at least if you can sort the old ones they'll do as spares. |

Thought about this .. there is only one solution......
soak your feet till they are totally saturated ..... place on radiator till they are crinkly and dry..... et voila .... boots will be a perfect fit !!!!!
Sheesh... why didn't anyone else think of this..... _________________ Aye Right ! |

Nikwax lots and lots of it.
Apply with your fingers as the heat from them melts it in.
Will probably take two or three "coats" to do the trick.
I pressure wash our boots once a year (carefully) so have to do this every year works a treat.
Other wise i recomend miendl borneo pro boots they are superb boots. |

I've been following all the advice on this useful thread very carefully and applying all the handy hints.

Ok. I've done all that, just as recommended. My feet are now really waterproof; but the downside is that my boots keep slipping off.
What do I do next? _________________ In the service of a Queen |

I'm grateful for your delicate approach in this post FFB. But damn the publicity: give it to me straight from the shoulder.
What might this mean for my membranes?

There comes a point in everyone's lives when the facts must be faced.....in truth there are no ways to disguise the inevitable 'They's not pinin'! 'They's passed on! These boots are no more! they have ceased to be! 'They've expired and gone to meet 'their maker!
'They,re a stiff! Bereft of life, 'They rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'em to the perch 'they'd be pushing up the daisies!
'Is metabolic processes they are now 'istory! 'they's off the twig!
'they's kicked the bucket, 'they's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!
THEYS ARE EX-BOOTS!!
Slainge Bob

* A very old tip for making shoes a little more roomy. Find a potato that fits snugly into the shoe, peel it then push it into the shoe and leave overnight. If this does not stretch the shoe enough, try a larger potato.
* Use plastic food bags, quart size, and fill with water to fit your shoes. Then put them in the freezer. As the water freezes it stretches the shoes.
* Just use ordinary rubbing alcohol to stretch your shoes. Wet the leather with alcohol and put the boot/shoe on while it is wet. The alcohol dries quickly and does not dry out or crack the leather like water does. It really does work!
* There is also a product called 'shoe stretch'. I am not sure if you will be able to find it or something similar where you live. It is available in shoe stores. Basically you spray it onto the tight shoe before wearing them and it will help the shoe to stretch. Especially good if you have gained a few pounds, as that is the time when our shoes feel a little tighter.
(....and yes, I did Google it ) |
