I have edited my first post to add GSAK and Cachemate to the front of the thread. _________________ Let me know if I say anything that offends you

A new Greasemonkey script for better maps on cache pages (including marking all waypoints, great for multis!) can be found here _________________ Roads? Where We're Going, We Don't Need Roads! |

I have to say this is excellent. I had been using the older (slightly inaccurate) OS Map Greasemonkey script in any case but this scrollable version is the business. |

I have finally got around to downloading firefox and greasemonkey (attracted by the idea of a decent map on the cache page), and also tried to download this script but as I'm not familiar with these I'm not sure how to get it working. Can anyone help a numpty? _________________ Utterly smitten by a Captain

Is Firefox working? Follow these steps:
http://www.techsupportalert.com/firefox_install.htm
It is probably worthwhile importing all your favourites / bookmarks from IE. And setting Firefox to be your default browser rather than IE. (Tools, Options, Main tab, Always check to see if Firefox....)
Is GreaseMonkey installed? Follow these steps:
http://diveintogreasemonkey.org/install/greasemonkey.html
Once GM is installed, you should see a little smiling monkey face down in the bottom right hand corner. If it isn't smiling, you've done something wrong!
Download a User Script from a developers website:
To get things like the OS map extract on the cache pages, you have to install some User Scripts. GreaseMonkey controls these for you - GM doesn't actually do anything visible otherwise. You will need to restart Firefox to get the Monkey to work.
There are links to various scripts in the GeoX forum in the pinned section. Right click on a link to a Script when you are taken to a page that has an underlined link - you might start with the most useful Geocaching Enhanced OS Map Substituter from Edgemaster that is mentioned - it is brand new this weekend. Once right clicked, a small button should invite you to install it. (It takes a few seconds to download - at this time the install button is greyed out)
This particular script is available on this forum page
http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=164270
This page (started by Edgemaster) also has links to Firefox and Greasemonkey installers.
To view which scripts you have installed, and "manage" them in Firefox, go to the menu bar - Tools, GreaseMonkey, Manage User Scripts.
Here they can be toggled on and off or uninstalled altogether. As can GreaseMonkey itself. This is "managing". |

It was the last step (managing scripts) I didn't know about - thanks Nick. That's much better now. _________________ Utterly smitten by a Captain

GC.com have changed their maps again, rendering the new OS Map Substituter defunct overnight. And the script was only posted yesterday!
Anyway, it's fixed again, so you can replace the second Yahoo map with a proper OS one again.
Go to the UK forum page just here
The small Yahoo map at the top of the cache pages is pathetic really.... |

Gaaah! I was going to say what a great addition it was but I've just logged into geocaching .com and the pages look really ugly. Moreover the OS map doesn't work. Again I say, Gaaah! |

Broken again - it's the changes that they are making to the site over in the US. Best advice? Leave it a few days to settle down.
In the meantime, since I don't need to go to Pilmuir, I have uninstalled the latest script. |

Here was I thinking that Pilmuir must be the Geocaching centre of the universe - even more so than Perth |
