This may have a knock on effect for the CITO next week, as part of the clean up area is the beach Yuk. Sad

They mentioned on the radio that they expect the water to be "safe" within a week or so, assuming the fault has been rectified of course.

We walked along the coast at Prestonpans yesterday and there wasn't any obvious effect. There was plenty of rubbish on higher ground away from the actual water to keep us all busy. The tides will probably have taken it all out to sea in a couple of days.

Going by the reports you won't actually see anything in the water, as it was diluted pure waste.
The advice at the moment is not to walk dogs on the beach as the sand may be contaminated. I think the water may be ok in a few days, but the sand may take a couple of weeks??

I suppose all they ahve actually done in this emergency is revert back to what was actual practice. To think i used to go in the water at Cramond and Portobello when I was a kid. [insert radio active glowing smilie here]
