Those Garmin people don't like to see moss growing on their rolling stones.
Another raft of new an upgraded products were announced this week including the Mobile 20 GPS-and-Nav extension for Bluetooth smartphones.
It's claimed that Win Mobile, Treo, and Symbian devices will work.
The Nuvi product line - which have been slow sellers in Europe - get Bluetooth integration, for (among other things) one-touch phone calling by location.
Two new Streetpilot 5-series units are also in the pot, the 550 having blue teeth as well.
One interesting feature of these new-generation GPS units is something called "Garmin Lock". It's a security system which provides different means of disabling a stolen unit.
The owner can set a PIN number, which has to be entered before the unit will operate, OR it can be set so that the unit won't function unless taken to a pre-programmed GPS location.
Which is quite clever, really...
