Coached Off The Couch is a new TV series which starts on the 14th September on STV.

I'm not sure which episode it will be, but Geocaching will be shown on one of the shows.

NEW SIX-PART SERIES COACHED OFF THE COUCH TO SCREEN ON STV

Starts 14th September at 8pm for six weeks

11th September 2012

With less than two years until the Commonwealth Games arrive in Scotland, there has never been a better time for Scots to get off the couch and get active. Coached Off The Couch, a brand new six-part series, presented by Kelly Cates, has enlisted the help of some of the nation’s top athletes who will challenge and inspire a group of typical Scots to get fit by discovering a new love for sport and fitness.

Each week the Scottish athletes will introduce the volunteers to three new and exciting sports and give them some friendly guidance on their journey to a fitter, healthier lifestyle. For some it may be an uphill struggle, and others might find a talent they never knew they had.

In the series, families and individuals from all over Scotland will benefit from the experience of some of Scotland’s greatest champions, including David Wilkie (swimming), Liz McColgan (athletics), Catriona Matthew (golf), Mark Beaumont (cycling), Graham Randall (judo), Scott Hastings (rugby), Alex Arthur (boxing), and Gary Innes (shinty). In addition, a host of junior champions and Commonwealth hopefuls will be on hand to encourage and inspire our volunteers.

Each episode will introduce the volunteers to three different activities, two of which they will be aware of in advance, the third, the wildcard, will come as a complete surprise to them.
Among the sports and activities featured over this six-part series are swimming, mountain biking, geo-cashing, road cycling, field archery, salsa dancing, track running, surfing, karate, judo, rugby, roller derby, hill walking, rock climbing, golf, figure skating and football.

Elizabeth Partyka, deputy director of channels at STV, said: “Coached Off The Couch is a programme that gives our viewers an insight into how they can be more active and have fun whilst getting fit. We hope the combination of a successful Olympics, the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, and our inspiring sporting mentors will provide the incentive for our viewers to get off the couch and deliver a real sporting legacy for the future.”

Coached Off The Coach is sponsored by Healthier Scotland in association with the Daily Record.

Sport Minister Shona Robison said: “Inactivity is one of the biggest health issues of the 21st century and our overriding Commonwealth Games legacy is to help Scots become and stay physically active. Starting on the day Scotland’s inspiring Olympic and Paralympic heroes parade through Glasgow, Coached off the Couch will show people just how easy it is to take seemingly small steps to a healthier, more active life.”

Allan Rennie, editor-in-chief of the Daily Record, said: "We are delighted to get behind this campaign that is not just about getting fit but about having fun and spending some quality time with your family."

Excellent Dave! It's a pity they couldn't spell geocaching correctly though. Although I watch almost no live TV, I will tune in next Friday.

Not got a clue, I don't have their contact details and don't know their username if they registered.

Wached it on the STV player on my PC as I forgot to record the programme on Friday evening. Sad

The ads I had to watch before seeing the piece on Geocaching were a PITA but the content in the piece was good. Smile

Was out of the country when it went out, but just caught up with the caching bit. Great stuff, Dave.
