I've had a reply from the company that manufacture the last run of the Edinburgh geocoin and costs for a run of 250 antique silver coins. Unfortunately they throw away the die after 3 years so it will have to be made again but they still have the art work.

It's a large sum of money to put up front but each coin could be sold for £5 which I think makes them a reasonable price (let me know as I haven't kept abreast of these things lately.

If there's enough interest I will certainly think about getting a run made - could possibly think about selling them at the mega event as well I suppose since we're going to that.

Consider me interested - I've managed to get some mileage on my current GCs, so it would be nice to add a third item to the travels.

In fact, when I put it like that, I'd quite like two. One to keep, one to travel.

Only 248 to go?

I have organised another production run of 250 of the Edinburgh geocoins, antique silver finish. Should be with me in about 5 weeks.

I won't be able to send these by post as I simply dont have the time to do this, but will sell them at events etc or they can be passed on via other cachers.

Count me in for 4, I can give them to some of my German friends. Also seeing as you are not on FB I can also mention their availability on there once you receive them. I will only do this if you are happy for me to do so otherwise it will be word of mouth. I think there are enough cachers that have taken up the pastime since the last coins sold out Cool

Yes, I agree that's why I thought it worth doing again.

Thanks for the preorder and the offer. I am happy for the coins to be mentioned on fb; there are enough events coming up over next few months to work out ways of getting them to people.

The production has started, and I will be advised of a shipping date soon I think.

It is a good idea to mint another batch of these coins. I'm sure I saw one early on in my caching career but that was a while ago now. Please reserve four for team hobgoblin. We will look out for them at a suitable event in the future.

Sally,
I have posted on FB and have requests for another 4 coins I don't think there will be a problem being left with many if any at all! I will confirm the figures required when you receive them although I still would like 4 for myself.

Hi All,

Well the geocoins are nearly here - I will get delivery on Wednesday next week. That's the good news. The bad news is that I hadn't anticipated customs duty and 20% VAT plus 'clearance fees' being charged, as well as a charge for a foreign transaction on my credit card. (I have never incurred such a charge before so this must be a new way for RBS to rake in some cash.)

The cost of each coin will therefore have to be £6 instead of £5, so obviously anyone who wishes to change their mind about purchase can do so!

I will bring the coins to the 'Welcome to Cramond' event on July 21st, and can make any other arrangements to pass them on that suit.

For anyone attending the Mega next week who would like one of these coins, I will have a stall in one of the marquees for a couple of hours (probably 10.30- 12.30ish) to sell them.
