Got your tree up yet? No, me neither - I'm doing it today...
Here's a thing, though: look at the lights on your tree (assuming it's an indoor one) and imagine, if you can, that the entire surface of the Earth - land, sea, everything - is covered with a network of little glowing Christmas tree lights, spaced one metre apart.
That's global warming.
It's the amount of energy that the planet is absorbing, which it can't radiate back into space. One little fairy light per metre...
...more than 500,000,000 kilowatts of power.
It's getting warmer, folks.

Talking of snow on houses reminds me of a tale I was told by the pilot of the South Wales Police chopper (I used to climb with him).
He told me that at first light after a decent dumping of snow he was always tasked to fly about looking for houses with no snow on the roof. A large number of these snow free houses had heat lamps and lights in the lofts growing cannabis!
