Saw this article on bbc breakfast news this morning http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-13993411
The media seem to be getting a little better a describing geocaching though, but then they did have Dec on hand to keep them straight. _________________ I am just going outside, and may be some time!

you missed another you tube clip http://youtu.be/8cKXx4GdRa4
Ok a few developments that have come out of this. maxkim has made contact with the Yorkshire Police, and is going to work closely with them.
Dave Edwards the chairman of the GAGB, has made initial contact with the ACPO. And has already received some feedback, this will be incorporated into a slight change in the way Urban cache placements are reviewed. Once this has been finalised I post a update for everyone. We are currently working on a project to liaise with all Police Forces in the UK, part of which will be a free PM for each force off Groundspeak.
I'm currently dealing with a contact to Groundspeak off the Lancashire Constabulary, requesting the locations of all caches in their force area. That is due to a ripple affect from wetherby.
All in all what could have had very serious knock on affects for our hobby, is currently having minor ripples. And it could end up with the UK leading the way in how the local Geocaching Community interact with local Law Enforcement Departments

Sounds like it's getting handled very well. many thanks, Deci.
Does there need to be a separate but co-ordinated approach to ACPOS? I know the Chiefs here have connections into ACPO but this may not figure on that radar.
There will also be other sensitivities in relation to the PSNI. _________________ In the service of a Queen |

For the moment we have had a initial approach to the ACPO, so a hook into the ACPOS will not be turned down feed back makes it appear that we might have to individually contact each Force separately. Especially as we will be encouraging them to take up Groundspeak's offer of free PM accounts.
As for PSNI given the very sensitive issue there, we are holding off just yet, whilst we firm up the mainland, get the kinks worked out. So that there is a smooth contact process in place. That will make contact there and tweaking the process to fit the unique situation, easier.
