Requests Received to adopt Ewan-Billy Twigger's caches, Ewans family are prepared to allow adoption of them
Firth of Forth wrote: | I've had a message from Lorna, Ewan's wife, to say that she and his sons would be very grateful if other other cachers could adopt BT's caches. Can we do this without troubling them to do anything, I wonder? |
If you wish to adopt one of the caches listed, please email me directly, as this is cross posted. That way it will be easier to coordinate things.
Please note that this is just coordinating the List, the actual Adoption of the caches has yet to be arranged.

I am happy with what you have got my name against. Thanks for taking this forward, Dave. _________________ Let me know if I say anything that offends you

Email sent re: Bute and Argyll Caches (except the Earthcache).
Would be honoured to take them if none of the West Coast Worthies want to take them on.

Where more than one persons name has been added to a cache, I will request that the cachers contact each other directly to resolve who actually goes forward.
Whilst I've happily acted as Guardian on the caches, unfortunately the situation needs someone to physically be responsible for maintaining them and deal with any Landowner issues if they arose
Please note it is down to individual cachers to agree between themselves, who takes on which cache. I will not be assigning caches to any specific individual, I'm just the person acting as coordinator.

As my offer to take on the Bute/Argyll caches is such an immotive subject I'll withdraw my offer of adopting them all to allow for someone more suitable to take them on. Sorry.
I just wanted to keep the caches alive and try to make the process as hassle free as possible for Ewans family.
So, if the community deems that a 'team' adoption approach is the way to go then I'll happily do my bit for maintenance etc.
Many apologies _________________ "Do or do not. There is no try." - Yoda |

Please Note! The request for the caches to be adopted was made by Ewans Family. No pressure was brought to bear on them over this. The UK Reviewers would have kept the caches active for as long as it took them to decide as to whether they wished to either actively maintain them or adopt them out. At the end of the day, the final decision was theirs and solely theirs. And as such we should respect that.
This topic is solely to collate the names of those who wish to fulfil that request. So that the whole adoption process, when it is resolved is as quick and as painless as possible for them.

Hey Jackie! Not sure what the problem is or what the 'team' idea is! It's a wonderful offer that you made, and I don't see what the problem is, other than that you might have too many caches to look after.
Please don't feel that you have to withdraw your offer. I think that the only sensible way to ensure that caches stay alive is for individuals to take on the responsibility of particular caches. That's the way this thing works, surely? _________________ Utterly smitten by a Captain

I have become aware that there is a separate discussion about this going on on geofrees.
I have told Ewan's family that there are lots of cachers willing to adopt his caches. Please would anyone who is willing to take on the responsibility of adopting any of BT's caches put their name forward so that we can ensure that as many of them survive as possible and so Deceangi can go ahead with whatever arrangements can be made to ease this process without troubling Ewan's family. Whether or not you knew Ewan is not the issue at all.
Can we make this as simple and as straightforward as possible? _________________ Utterly smitten by a Captain

Hi
We are prepared to take on the caches we originally expressed an interest in, if that is acceptable to Ewan's family, those who knew him & the wider caching community

I think that this is the only way it can be done - but Deceangi can correct me if I'm wrong. _________________ Utterly smitten by a Captain

Once you have adopted a cache you can change the name and any of the details that you want. But I think it should be kept with the originators name and description stating that you have adopted it. _________________ Let me know if I say anything that offends you

Thanks for clarifying that Dave. I'm sure anyone who adopts a cache will be pleased to do that. _________________ Utterly smitten by a Captain

If Jackie would like to reconsider taking on all or some of the Bute/Argyll caches, then I think we have pretty much all of them covered. That's wonderful.
Following Scottiedogz's lead, perhaps we could ask those adopting caches to keep BT's name in the title and to undertake to try to get someone else to adopt should they not be able to continue to look after them.
Hopefully Deceangi can plead the case for the virtuals and an easy transfer process. We're just about there. _________________ Utterly smitten by a Captain

As I have said we are happy to go along with what ever is agreed - there is still a seperate discussion on Geofrees & obviously this is a sensitive subject |
