I love my Memory Map, I do -really!
So when I try to send marks to my gpsr, why do I keep getting the message
"Unknown Garmin
Timeout sending package 10
Timeout sending package 256
Timeout sending package 10
Timeout sending package 256"

A number of possibilities...
1) You have the wrong COM port selected on your PC.
2) You do not have the right interface setting on your GPSr.
Which one?
2) What type of GPSr do you have? Garmin? Check in the Interface section in Menu that the Interface setting is set to Garmin and not anything else. If you don't use Garmin, post back here or send me an email !!
1) COM port - if 2 above is OK, then go to GPS in the MM menu bar. Select GPS Setup. Then in Serial Port, it should say COM 1 (or a different number) With the GPS plugged in, change COM 1 to COM 2 and click OK. Wait and see if it connects. If it doesn't, try COM3 etc.
It is possible to look for the correct COM port using Device Manager under My Computer..... but try the above first. |

Another question is, why can't I send all of my waypoints straight from GSAK to MM? I have found that i need to load them onto my GPS then send them to MM??
Any ideas? _________________ Let me know if I say anything that offends you

I think to export to Memory Map from GSAK you go..
File.........Export...........then select Memory Map.

Definitely correct....
I have to say that I have also had the Haggis Hunter problem (8.21 post) on occasions.
Taking out the GPS USB lead from the PC and then putting it in again seems to help when this happens. But I know that I already have the correct COM port for my USB / serial adapter, and that the GPSr is set to the correct Interface option. Taking out the lead is quicker than restarting MM! |

Thanks
I think I have it sussed. I had GSAK open at the same time - and I think there was a conflict (?) in terms of which application had priority over the port. Sounds plausible anyway! |

I have played about with it, and finally found out how to do it. I do the above, which makes a csv file, I select Memory Map and import that file, and then it all shows up just nicely _________________ Let me know if I say anything that offends you
