Wandering around the Tyninghame estate today (with the inevitable cache series coming on....) I spent a while watching genuine mad march hares cavorting in the salt flats of the Tyne estuary. There were three in the group; sprinting in circles like a crazy game of tig and occasionally stopping for a boxing match between two of the trio standing up on their gangly hind legs while the other looked on. I took some pictures but even with the full zoom on my point and click camera the results are best described as "Salt Flats in The Spring with Small Dots in the Distance".
While watching the performance, I supposed that I was seeing two males and a female with the males fighting for the lady's affections while she followed on to remind them what the point of it all was and to encourage the two strapping chaps to give her a good show. But having consulted the BBC website, I now realise that the gender balance was the other way around and it was an unreceptive lady hare defending her honour from two persistent suitors. _________________ In the service of a Queen |
