For those of you interested in GSAK, there is a new (beta) edition out now. This is only available by downloading from the Forums and not via the GSAK update feature.
The latest Build version is #51 and you can get it from http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=113836&st=100
It has some nice new features. |

Geocaching Swiss Army Knife
You use it to download your PQs and upload into your PDA. _________________ Utterly smitten by a Captain

FoF is quite correct, but it also does many other things. It is in essence, a database of caches that you might be interested in. From it, you can go directly to the gc.com site and look at the cache details there or you can look at them (offline) including the logs, distance from home (or any other point), keep track of caches that you have found / not found / archived....
Other features include searching for a cache name, sorting and ordering using your own preferences. As FoF says, you can use it to put info on your PDA or to put "flags" or markers into Memory-Map and your GPS. If you happen to be someone who uses CacheMate or Fugawi, then you can use GSAK to support these too.
The most common use is for folk to display their PocketQuery downloads - a GC premium member feature.

Do you make ones that look like a Grecian temple? I downloaded a plan for one like that off the internet - just need to persuade the woodwork teacher here to make it for me! Suspect he will laugh at me...but it's a real classy birdhouse! |

When developing software there is usually a testing phase that involves releasing Beta software to a number of end users prior to a new release being made available to everyone.
Beta software is usually more feature rich than the current release but is likely to contain bugs. Its called beta testing (2nd letter of the Greek alphabet) as alpha testing (1st letter of the Greek alphabet) is usually done within the confines of the developers own team. _________________ www.BigWolf.co.uk |
